A MUM of five was shattered this week after being snubbed by a double glazing company.

Lorraine Arstall, 32, of Marlborough Road, Atherton, who has a speech impediment, claims the Bradford company slammed the phone down on her.

She tried three times on Saturday to obtain a free quote for her home, but felt humiliated when the company cut off her calls.

Lorraine, who was born with cerebral palsy, alleges the company called her 'pathetic', and told her husband Stuart he should not have let her use the phone.

Lorraine, whose children's ages range from one to 12, said: "I was abused over the phone by this company.

"This is the first time in my life anything like this has happened to me. It has upset me so much. It is discrimination." A spokesman for the company Safestyle UK, David Johnson, said: " We are sorry about this. We did offer to send out a senior manager with flowers to apologise but this was rejected.

"We do try our best. We are extremely busy and the phones are going all the time. Unfortunately during the school holidays and with using a freephone number we do get numerous hoax calls and windups.

"Unfortunately the operator answering the phone on Saturday thought her call was one of these.

"We wanted to explain that the action was not directed at her.

"Our operator did tell her to get her husband to call, but when he did ring back he didn't want to accept our offer."
