BRAVE little leukaemia victim Leah Davis has lost her fight for life.
The Atherton six-years-old died from pneumonia in Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital last week.
Her family is devastated.
Leah, formerly of Byron Close, was diagnosed with the blood cancer in April last year.
After courses of chemotherapy her disease went into remission and she faced a wait for a suitable bone marrow donation.
She underwent a successful transplant on May 25 this year and was doing fine, until she developed lung problems three weeks ago. Leah's grandma and fundraiser, Mrs Marie Davis, of Canterbury Close, Atherton, said: "Her death has come as such a shock. We are all knocked for six."
Leah, and her mum Collette, moved to Liverpool to be close to the hospital while the former St Richard's RC pupil was undergoing treatment,
She was buried there after a service in Kirkby on Tuesday.
Mrs Davis said: "We started raising money to send Leah to Disneyland, but sadly she never made it.
"All the cash raised will now go the Alder Hey to help others, and the fund raising will carry on for Leukaemia Research.
"I would like to thank everyone, our big family, friends, good neighbours, Volex, the doctors and nurses and everyone who has been involved.
"Leah touched everyone hearts and it is so awful and tragic that she has died. She was a real battler to the end."
A Mass will be said at St Richard's RC Church, Atherton, at a later date, to which her school friends, and everyone who knew her, is invited.
