LASSIE could learn a thing or two from a Bury Alsatian which rescued a tiny Chihuahua lost in a jungle of bushes and brambles in Blackford Bridge last week.
One-year-old Blondie went missing from the back garden of owner Miss Hilary Moss' home last Thursday evening.
Hilary started to panic thinking that Blondie could have been hurt or even stolen.
So a pet Alsatian called Max, who is owned by a neighbour, was drafted in to help.
Hilary explained: "Max lives near us and when I take Blondie for a walk we pass a hole in a fence where he sticks out his nose. She likes Max."
A group of public-spirited youngsters from the estate heard Hilary shouting to Blondie and joined in the hunt for the missing pet.
His super sense of smell soon sniffed out his four-legged chum, and Blondie was back in her owner's arms.
She presented Max with a huge bone for his good work and announced: "He is a hero for saving her.
