TWO local organisations are looking to "make a difference".
Bury-based Jigsaw and Philips High School in Whitefield have joined the Greater Manchester Police force's Make a DifferenceZinitiative which is designed to enable young people to tackle crime and disorder problems affecting the areas they live.
Many of the projects being suggested so far are geared towards offering youth an outlet for their energy and creativity which can have direct, tangible benefits for their communities, taking youngsters away from crime and anti-social behaviour.
Pupils at Philips High are looking to tackle vandalism, issues of safety, disabled access and cycle parking around the Whitefield and Heaton Park area, particularly near the Metrolink station.
The Jigsaw group is looking to bring together children and young people with physical disabilities or sensory impairments with able bodied young volunteers in a step towards an integrated community.
Both projects are in the planning stage with full details released as soon as possible.
