A TEENAGER was injured when a gas cylinder caused a flash fire during a camping holiday.
Laurence Lavelle, 17, was changing a gas cylinder on a camping stove when the accident happened in his tent at the Camping and Caravanning Club, Edisford Bridge, Clitheroe.
Sub-officer Dave Frankland said gas escaped from the cylinder and was ignited by another camping stove which was alight in the tent.
Mr Lavelle suffered extensive flash burns to his legs, stomach and arm. A warden put out the burning tent with a fire extinguisher.
Mr Lavelle and his partner Ann Marie Owen, 26, both suffered slight asthma attacks. They were treated at the scene and then taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
Mr Lavelle, of Kent, was later transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital, where he was described as comfortable.
