POLICE have appealed for witnesses to a road accident in which five people were injured when their car collided with a lamp post on the A646 Burnley Road, Cornholme, between Burnley and Todmorden.
The 22-year-old driver from Halifax, escaped with minor injuries but his passengers, a 16-year-old girl from Halifax, a 19-year-old girl from Todmorden, and two men in their early 20s from Todmorden and Bradford, were seriously injured.
They were taken to Burnley General Hospital by ambulances from Nelson and West Yorkshire. The driver was released after treatment but his passengers are still in hospital.
