IT was fitting that Morecambe honoured its favourite son with the unveiling of a statue of the 'tall thin one with the glasses.' The town is justifiably proud of the brilliant and lovable Eric - but he looked so lost without little Ern.
In life they were the perfect comedy partnership, so why split them up now? Put Ern alongside Eric and see how much more 'real' it all will become. I'm sure Ern (or Leeds) wouldn't mind Morecambe being the place for the reunion.
The "little one with the short fat hairy legs" was equally brilliant and just as lovable - can you really imagine Eric without Ernie? Unthinkable.
All the fun and laughter they brought to the British public was because of how they reacted together .
And, surely, no one can forget all the truly brilliant plays what little Ern has wrote! Eric and Ernie belong together for always.
