JASON Lobo is in last chance saloon after weather conditions thwarted his latest bid to qualify for the World Athletics Championships.
The Blackburn 800m man was second in a quality field in Thurruck, again ahead of Curtis Robb and a strong international contingent.
But a howling wind ruined any chance of a fast time. Lobo now has one last chance to reach the one minute 46.3 standard required for a trip to Seville in September.
He said: "Racing-wise I'm going very well. I didn't do the time but beating the people in the race shows that it is there. Most of the lads had run the qualifying time this year.
"That is why it was staged, to try and pull myself and Mark Sesay along. In the end we did the pulling around."
Sesay won the race, which included the likes of Kenyan Benson Koitch and Kiwi Sean Farrell but was also well outside the qualifying time.
He, too, is at Crystal Palace on Sunday for the British Grand Prix, when it is hoped another strong field will bring the best out of Lobo.
