THE Blackburn Philanthropic Youth League has 22 new clubs for the coming season, to add to the 18 existing members.

Locally the new clubs are Akzo Nobel Juniors, Blackburn Boys, AC Blackburn, Blackburn Eagles, Darwen Boys, Darwen Town, Darwen United, Ewood Rangers, Knuzden Jnrs, Knuzden Youth, St Joseph's and St Mary's Juniors.

From the surrounding districts the league welcomes Accrington Boys, Accrington Stanley, Barnoldswick United, Clitheroe Wolves, Colne Clarets, Haslingden FC, Newchurch Forest, Walton-le-Dale, Whitworth Valley and Worsthorne FC.

The league will run sections at Under-12s, 13s, 14s, 15s, 17s and 18s, and will start the season on Sunday, September 5.

There is still a place available in both the Under-14s and Under-15s sections and teams are asked to apply to the secretary, Peter Holden, telephone 883517, before Thursday, August 5, if they are interested.

The league plays its matches on Sundays and players should be under the age limit on August 1 this year.
