YOUR comments (LET, July 22 and 26) on the fiasco of Blackburn Councillor Mohammed Khan's appointment as a racial harassment supervisor sounded a ring of truth. Members of the council's Labour group were quite obviously out of touch with the protocol of a body of many years standing.

Equally disturbing is that none of the interview panel, which offered him the job against the rules, has resigned their position as councillors.

I call on them all, including Coun Khan to do so without further delay.

For if they cannot run such simple affairs as this, how on earth can we expect them to then run somewhat more complicated council matters?

P NEWTON (Mr), (Chairman, Bank Top Community Association), Ashworth Close, Blackburn.
