A BURNLEY holidaymaker was today undergoing emergency surgery after being pistol-whipped in a fight with two men.
The man, aged 25, whose name is not being released until police have been able to contact his parents, suffered a fractured skull and other injuries in the early morning attack near Maggie's Bar in Albert Road, Morecambe.
The left side of his face was badly injured.
He was admitted to the Lancaster Royal Infirmary and then transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital where he was undergoing surgery today.
The incident happened at about 2am yesterday at the junction of Marine Road and Albert Road, Morecambe.
The victim is understood to have been staying with his girlfriend who lives in the resort.
They had been to a local bar when he became involved in a fight with two men.
Two men have been arrested and were being questioned by police in Morecambe today.
A police spokesman said an imitation firearm was recovered at the scene.
