THREE members of West Pennine Runners - Brian Morris, Neil Holding and Sheila Fogg - joined 300 others in the Tour of Tameside, a series of six races in seven days which totals 52 miles or virtually two marathons.
On their single day off, Neil and Sheila raced in the Cuerden Valley Trail Race. Brian took an excellent 25th place with a combined time of 5:20.54, Neil was 59th in 5:45.02 and Sheila 294th in 8:20.37.
Debbie Gowans of Accrington RR won the Aberdaron 8.3m race over road, track and fell, while 13-year-old Sarah Donahue won the three mile under 16 race.
A team of Darwen Dashers ran in the Sale 10-miler, highest placed was Nev Rickard, 11th in 57.53. Team mate Hilary Bell was second lady at the Fleetwood Half Marathon.
Chorley Harriers Keith Johnson and Travers Lawrence were second and fifth in the four mile Cuerden Valley Trail Race. Red Rose runners William Garner was fourth and Jennifer Adams was first lady.
