A LIST of flytipping blackspots has been drawn up as part of a council crackdown on litter louts.
Councillors have named and shamed about 20 sites across Rossendale which are regularly filled with rubbish dumped by flytippers in a bid to come up with an action plan to clear up the mess and keep the 'grotspots' litter-free.
Some of the areas named include Stoneholme Road, Crawshawbooth, land off Fallbarn Road, Rawtenstall, Toll Bar Commemorative Gardens, Stacksteads, and numerous sites in Whitworth and Shawforth.
It is estimated that it would cost the council £12,000 a year to allocate two staff and one vehicle for an extra day to remove rubbish left by flytippers.
Councillors are due to discuss the problem further at a meeting of the Environmental Health Committee on Monday.
