ROBBIE Blake's chances of getting a move to Blackburn Rovers could have moved a step closer after the Bradford City striker dropped an eve-of-season bombshell on Valley Parade manager Paul Jewell.

Contract rebel Blake is believed to have told Jewell that he is reluctant to take any part in Bradford's long-awaited return to top flight football at Middlesbrough tomorrow. But chairman Geoffrey Richmond said today: "I can categorically say that no player at this club has said any such thing to the manager. Robbie is travelling with the rest of the squad to Middlesbrough today."

There has been a critical reaction to Blake's stance from Bradford fans who have subjected him to a barrage of abuse in the pre-season games. The Premiership new boys have already rejected a £2.5million bid from Rovers, who are standing firm on their valuation of Blake who scored 17 goals last season.

And Bradford are at loggerheads with their striker who has been given PFA backing as he appeals against a fine imposed after he spoke to a local newspaper in Yorkshire pleading with the fans to understand his contract stance.

Blake has refused to accept new terms with City and is believed to be eager to move - with Rovers in pole position if he gets his way.
