CONCERNING Geraldine Smith's proposal that the Dukes should be relocated (Citizen, July 22).
Firstly, I've been a regular customer of the Dukes since it opened its doors in the early 1970s and I think that moving the Dukes lock, stock and two small theatres is a terrible idea.
Miss Smith's idea is flawed for two reasons. First the Dukes has been the cultural lifeblood of Lancaster for 26 years and should stay (despite recent problems). Second it would be more appropriate to have cabaret, live music and touring productions for the Winter Gardens and live bands in the winter.
Leave our theatre alone.
