PRESTON Cricket Club sent two promising youngsters to train and play with Leicestershire last week.
James Anyon, 16, and Ben Harrison, 19, pictured right and left, who are regular features of Preston's first team, met some of the stars of the cricket circuit and picked up tips to improve their game.
They even had the chance to face Australian Mark Kaspravich, widely regarded as the world's fastest bowler.
Ben, studying dentistry at Newcastle University, said: "I went for a four-day second team match against Derbyshire.
"I'm an all rounder and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, despite the fact I didn't score.
"I went back on Sunday to do some work in the nets with them and ended up facing Kaspravich.
"I managed a few deliveries and then he got me lbw.
"Jack Burkinshaw gave me some tips and it was a good experience all in all.
James said: "It was a big change and a good experience. It was strange to have players of that calibre just talking to you.
"I'm going to Preston College next year and would love to play professional cricket.
"Jack Burkinshaw had a chat with me and gave me some great advice and I did some bowling."
So does he think he could be a future Kaspravich? "Well I am a fast bowler," added James, " but I'd have to be twice as quick to match him!"
