A 25-YEAR-OLD man appeared at Chorley Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 3, charged with the murder of Preston student Janet Murgatroyd, whose battered body was found dumped in the River Ribble three years ago.
Andrew Philip Greenwood, of The Maltings, Penwortham, is accused of murdering the part-time Lancashire Constabulary assistant on June 16, 1996.
He spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
He was remanded in police custody to appear before South Ribble Magistrates Court, in Leyland, on Monday, August 9, for committal proceedings.
