I NOTE with interest the letter (July 30) from Councillor Derek Boden regarding mobile-phone masts.
Perhaps he would like to explain how my car alarm was interfered with by air waves from the transmitter on the Longfield Suite in Prestwich.
I am informed by the local newsagent in the Longfield area that there has been a petition about the mast. I do not personally have any problem with the height of the mast, but surely if the signals are interfering with the safety of vehicles - which is of paramount importance in view of the incidents in the area - this must be considered locally by the council and, indeed, government bodies.
He may be interested to know that I have written directly to Mr Ivan Lewis, our local Member of Parliament.
In the meantime perhaps Councillor Boden can assure me that my car will not be "impounded" by electrical waves in the Longfield area.
Fortunately, I was able to take advantage of business contacts to have my car alarm de-commissioned and moved away to a safe area before the vehicle was stopped again. I have had to go to the expense of having an "over-ride" system on my alarm.
Obviously this is a matter of great local importance.
