PRESTON born and bred Mary Allison was thrilled to receive 100th birthday congratulations from the Queen - and celebrated her special day with a party.
Mrs Allison, who lived in Longton for most of her life, was joined by her extended family and the staff and residents of New Manor Home for the Elderly, who helped her mark the occasion with a huge cake.
Deputy chairman of Lancashire's social services committee Bob Wilkinson also visited Mrs Allison, who has lived at New Manor since 1986, bringing with him birthday messages from County Hall.
County Coun Wilkinson said: "I am sure she had a very special day."
