I AM writing to invite any Citizen readers who have survived breast cancer to join me in supporting the Cancer Research Campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Like 33,200 women in Britain every year, I was diagnosed with the disease and had to deal with the shock, anguish and uncertainty that many patients face. Thankfully, I'm recovered and fighting fit.

The Cancer Research Campaign - which is the biggest funder of breast cancer research in the UK - is using the month to emphasise the importance of being 'breast aware'.

If you want to join me and other women across the country in helping to raise awareness of breast cancer, please write to me as soon as you can, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope.
