THE Railway Road charged parking scheme will be dumped if enough residents say No.
The newly-formed Action Group revealed this week that families are to have the final say, after the council was bombarded with protests about the permit plan.
The Group, made up of business people, residents and Leigh Conservatives, disclosed that the borough engineers' department had received over 200 letters and calls of objection.
In a letter to residents a spokesman said: "The council has now decided to have further consultations with residents of the affected areas in the form of a questionnaire.
"This will be sent out by post within the next two weeks and will ask people if they agree or disagree with the proposed plan.
"If the majority of answers are No then it will be scrapped.
"Please say no to this unwanted scheme."
