ON the evening of July 27 my wife and I were walking past the Continental pub by the river in Preston, when we were harassed by two men who had taken their drinks outside.

These men were disgustingly insulting and clearly drunk.

They had also obviously bought alcohol from the pub and were drinking it in the street next to the river.

I am not making something out of nothing. We were deeply offended and upset by these thugs.

I have no doubt that, had I stopped to have it out with them, they would have reacted with violence.

I used to drink in that pub occasionally with friends but now I feel as though I can't even walk past it without being abused.

Why don't pubs bar these type of people before an incident that seriously damages their reputation occurs?

Pubs have a duty of care and a duty to make sure their customers are not causing problems for other people and I hope not to be put in this situation again.
