A SECOND music marathon has been planned to celebrate the memory of a Leyland man who died of leukaemia last year.
Music for Life '99 will help raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund and pay tribute to musician Andy Sutton.
Andy, who lived in Hillbrook Road, Leyland, was 33 when he died of the disease after falling ill over six weeks.
His friends organised a 12-hour music gala to raise funds in his memory last year and, spurred on by their success, decided to repeat the event this year.
Michael Langley, one of the organisers of the event said: "It was a shock when Andy died last year and we all wanted to do something in memory of him.
"We arranged Music for Life and around 2,000 people came. We raised more than £5,000 for charity.
"This year, we would like to raise more and many of the same bands are playing again.
"The event is on the Sunday of a Bank Holiday weekend as well so there's no excuse for not coming."
The second Music for Life event will take place at Leyland Motors Club on Sunday, August 29 from noon until late.
Bands set to play include Gypsy Roadhog, the group which Andy played lead guitar with, Hyperjax and China Street.
The music will be complemented by children's entertainment, food and drink and stalls.
Anyone who wishes to donate goods to be raffled on the day should contact Michael on (01772) 451597.
Admission is free and all proceeds will go to Leukaemia Research.
