SINCE I started dressing well, with a clean shirt, tie, jacket, neat trousers and polished shoes, I have been received far better around town, especially by banks and shop keepers.

Job-seekers should note that if they dress well then they are far more likely to be employed than if they walk around in casual wear.

If that is all they can afford, then I apologise, but I suspect a pint of beer takes precedence over the acquiring of a tie.

In Harrogate, I was amazed to see the same scenario of dislevelled people lining up at the job centre.

Please, smarten up.

It makes a big difference to self esteem and if you can't afford it, try cutting out the boozing and cigarettes.
