HEARTLESS thugs at St Helens Show brought misery for disabled marathon fundraiser, Michelle Lewis when they slashed the tyres of her wheelchair as she visited the fairground.
Michelle, now 17, suffers from a condition in which her legs haven't developed properly and spends most of her time in her wheelchair. The courageous teenager has so far raised £500,000 for various charities.
She and her friend were visiting the Sherdley Park event on Saturday when the incident happened while the girls were on the waltzer ride.
Michelle's grandmother, Sylvia, with whom Michelle lives in St James Road, Rainhill, told the Star: "She left the chair at the side of the ride while she went on it and when she came off, she saw what had happened.
"She was very upset about it and her friend had to call for her father because Michelle couldn't get around without the chair.
"She was due to go away with her grandfather this week so I've been phoning around like mad to get her a new one."
