PILKINGTON Vikings were keen to increase their meagre points total this week.
Aand although they were beaten by the in-form Wooders, they took the points from United Gladiators, who have struggled to regain their form since losing their bowler mid-season with a broken leg.
The Vikings' performance was of a high standard, with quick accurate throwing coupled with a good all-round innings.
Tracy Cribbin, as backstop, linked well with Kath Bridge's usual high calibre bowling to keep UG's score low, but UG's Diane Thomas scored her usual quota of rounders, with halves from Jackie Kenny, Lynn Cowley, Cathy McNulty and Susan Sheffield.
Christine Dillon in her first full season gave a good performance with deft reactions and was able to keep Vikings half-rounders to a minimum. Vikings took the match 12-11.
Bobbies Lane showed top-of-the-table Pilkington Spartans just how it's done by beating them easily with a 13-4 score.
Spartans were not at their best and fluffed many fielding opportunities. Bobbies Lane made the most of this and with Linda Graham, Clarice Mitchison and Wendy Beresford proving deadly in the middle, Spartans batting was also lacklustre. Susan Spark along with Linda scored several rounders.
Other results: Haydock 23 Haresfinch 22, Burtonwood 5 Sutton CC 15, Vikings 9 Burtonwood 11, Sutton CC 12 TNT 11.
