I REFER to your anonymous writer regarding parking in Lytham (Citizen, July 22).
He or she mentions the large car park on the old station land in the town and asks why it is not free.
It was free when it first opened - but the employees at Guardian Royal soon latched on to this and used it almost entirely as their own private car park!
There was little or no room for the shoppers or visitors to Lytham, so the council did the only thing it could and made it "pay and display".
The same edict applies to the two parking lots on Lytham Green.
No doubt Guardian staff would also snap up any other free parking places near to their offices!
