THE Radio Authority has asked for comments regarding the intended sale of Bay Radio to a media company which owns the Northwest Evening Mail in Barrow.
The Lancaster-based radio station is to be bought by CN Group Ltd, who also publish the Barrow and West Cumberland Advertiser and the Whitehaven News.
Under the Broadcasting Act a local newspaper cannot own a local radio station in the same area and the Radio Authority is investigating whether the sale will be in the public's best interest.
Comments from the public should be made in writing to the Licensing Officer, The Radio Authority, Holbrook House, 14 Great Queen Street, London, WC2B 5DG.
