A LEIGH pub's charity cycling squad is aiming to pedal push its way to helping little wheelchair-bound Louise Sanders add some cheer to her life.

Thirty riders from Our House on Leigh Road are aiming to raise at least £3,000 to buy a computer for the six-year-old twin.

Any cash over the target will go to Pendlebury Children's Hospital where Louise has been treated for four years.

The fit regulars decided to ride for Louise after hearing of her spinal disease from dad and mum, Kelvin and Jayne, who live nearby in Leigh Road. And, if their second Bank Holiday Sunday ride on August 29 is a roaring success, they hope to make it an annual fund raising day.

One of the organisers, Christine Ridyard, of Kirkhall Lane, said: "Last year the gang decided to go for Sunday afternoon bike rides, then turned Bank Holiday into a charity ride.

"Last year we raised £3,000 for muscular dystrophy sufferer Paul Cartwright, who has sadly died.

"We decided this year will be for Louise. We are hoping to buy her a computer and present her sister, Emma, with something she wants.

"Louise is a lovely little girl and is bearing her illness well."

"After spending two years helping individuals in future years we may help buy equipment for special needs schools or hospitals."

The party will leave Our House, cycling a total of 65 miles to Southport and back.

The evening will take the form of the fund-raising party with a karaoke and raffle.

Anyone who wishes to sponsor the ride or attend the evening event should contact the pub.
