SOME people really splashed out at the It's A Knockout held during Blackpool Lions Carnival at the weekend.
Some, like official Colin Billington ended up getting a cooling off they were not expecting when a prankster pushed him into the River Nile part of the course.
It was all good fun in the sun as teams from the two radio stations Rock FM and Magic 999 and local businesses fought it out in the event, to raise money for their Help A Local Child campaign.
Fundraising events manager and Magic 999 presenter John Storey said: "From looking at sponsor forms we have raised around £20,000.
"The King of the Knockout crown eventually went to the Blackpool Police team and I think the two teams from the radio stations came in last but every single person had a brilliant time.
"We already have teams signing up for the event next year, even though we haven't really started planning it yet.
"Glen Hunt from the Rock FM team broke his ankle but he's doing fine - these things happen I suppose."
Temperatures soared at the weekend, creating an ideal backdrop for the carnival events at Lawson Road showground and the procession along the promenade.
Ken Ogden, carnival chairman, said: "We couldn't have hoped for better weather - even the rain held off on Sunday until 95 per cent of the events were over.
"Everyone enjoyed themselves and the line dancers were made especially welcome. We are now ready to prepare for next year's event, when we hope to do something particularly special for the Millennium."
