SKERTON High School has had a massive boost after a recent OFSTED report described 83 per cent of the lessons as 'excellent or sound."
Following an inspection in May, the report praises the school in a number of areas saying that the Headteacher provides strong leadership supported by members of senior management, staff and governors. It also praises working relationships and the positive attitudes of the staff to the pupils. Other pleasing features mentioned in the report were the good English and music teaching, relevant and enjoyable vocational courses for the older pupils and the well organised specialist support for pupils with special educational needs.
Headteacher, Peter Doyle, was delighted with the report and said: "We are all very pleased with the report. The inspectors commented that good progress has been made since the last inspection with strength in several areas and we will respond immediately and positively to the recommendations for further progress."
