A YOUNG singing sensation is set for stardom with members of a top national choir.

Jenny Howarth has just been picked to join the ranks of the National Children's Choir of Great Britain.

It comes after a demo tape audition sent to members of the Hemel Hempstead-based choir wowed bosses who were on the hunt for talented youngsters.

And her mum, Linda, has sung Jenny's praises revealing that her nine-year-old daughter fought back from illness - after being born 13 weeks premature - to excel as a vocalist.

Mrs Howarth, of Birchfield Avenue, Atherton, said: "I have even called the staff at the special care baby unit at the Royal Bolton Hospital to tell them the news.

"They were all thrilled. I feel Jenny should be applauded for everything she has achieved bearing in mind what she went through early on.

"She's got a lovely voice and has always been musical. She also plays the violin and the piano."

Her latest musical success comes just months after she started singing with the Wigan Girls Choir.

The Tyldesley County Primary school pupil is now preparing for her first concert appearance with the national choir at a concert in Bromsgrove.

She began singing after following the lead of her older sister, sixteen-year-old Katy, who is a member of the Wigan Girls Choir and the National Youth Choir of Great Britain.

Both sisters will appear in the famous Proms concerts next summer and are due to travel to Paris next July.

The highly-successful Wigan Girls Choir are currently recruiting.
