A MORECAMBE mother of two who was in possession of heroin during a police raid has been placed on probation.

Heather Aspinall, 30, of Aldcliffe Court, Morecambe, dropped a bag of heroin when the police approached her in a basement flat at Clarendon Street, Morecambe, on July 23 last year.

When first asked about the drug she denied all knowledge.

Later she claimed that one of the men in the flat had given it to her when a police presence was noticed.

There was found to be £120 worth of heroin in the kitchen where Aspinall was found with her two young children.

The wraps of heroin were found in corners of plastic bags which were tied tightly.

Aspinall admitted possessing the heroin with intent to supply but stated that she would only supply to one person.

Miss Julie Taylor, prosecuting, said the presence of similar plastic bags in the kitchen led the police to believe that the wraps had been packaged in the flat.

Defence counsel, Mr Russell Davies said: "She has rid herself of heroin addiction."

Judge John Townend sentenced Aspinall to 2 years probation at Preston Crown Court.

He said: "It must be that you were given these drugs when a police presence was known.

"I hope you can sort yourself out."
