A MALE cashier was forced to the floor and kicked in the head and threatened with a sawn-off shotgun during a garage raid on Tuesday (Aug 3).
Five men, wearing balaclava face masks and black gloves, smashed their way through the locked door of Heywood Road Service Station in Prestwich.
Once inside they attacked the 21-year-old cashier.
The raiders grabbed cigarettes and more than £300 in cash before escaping in a white car. The registration plate had been blanked out.
The car, believed to be a Vauxhall Cavalier, was last seen in the town's Scholes Lane.
The cashier was treated at North Manchester General Hospital.
Detective Sergeant Dave Maguire of Bury police said: "This was a vicious robber where, fortunately, the cashier escaped with just minor injuries."
