COUNCILLORS have agreed in principle to the restoration of an area of Alkincoats Park, Colne, known as the horse pond despite safety fears.
Pendle Council officers will look into a scheme for bringing the pond back to life and the safety implications.
The pond was filled in for unknown reasons around 30 years ago. Now the Friends of Alkincoats Park want to bring the area back to life.
A report to the council's Colne area committee said it would cost more than £2,200 to build a new pond. "The provision of a pond could be a potential hazard and safety could not be guarenteed even if fencing was erected," warned parks officer Alan Binns.
