SOME of East Lancashire's best known landmarks are to be photographed as part of a £3million survey of England's heritage.
Members of the Royal Photographic Society will take exterior shots of buildings and historical sites as part of the Images of England project run by the National Monuments Record, the public archive of English Heritage.
And Burnley's Towneley Hall, Blackburn Town Hall and the stocks in Higher Gate, Huncoat, are all to be photographed.
More than 500 photographers will take part in the survey which will finish in 2002 and the organisers hope to create a 'point in time' record of all England's 360,000 listed buildings for the new millennium.
The photographs will be accessible through the internet and create one of the world's largest on-line picture libraries.
The project is backed by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
