BURNLEY company Cakeboards has won a major contract with Hobbycraft, Britain's biggest chain of art and craft superstores.
The George Street firm, part of the Boxes Group, will sell its cakeboards at Hobbycraft's 16 superstores and at three more set to open in the coming months.
In addition, the company, which employs 100 workers in Burnley has announced two further contracts - to distribute American cake decorations for Bakery Craft and with Sefcol Ltd., to distribute sugar paste and marzipan to retailers and bakers throughout the country. Cakeboards sales and marketing director John Heester said: "These three important contracts demonstrate Cakeboards' continuing success in maintaining a leading position in its business arena.
Cakeboards has served the cake manufacturing and sugarcraft industry for over 50 years and has grown to become one of the most prominent names in the business.
"While we have the capability of a large firm, we have retained the values of a small company in our relations with customers."
Cakeboards has an annual turnover of £3.5 million.
