DESPITE going down to another narrow home defeat, Lynx can take a great deal of heart from their display.
After the game coach Steve Hampson said: "I was happy with the overall performance of the team considering that they were full of ex-Super League players.
"I felt that we could have won the game, but their try just before the break, which should have been disallowed for obstruction, came when we were controlling the game and this certainly had a bearing on the outcome."
He added: "I also feel that for most of the game the players matched Widnes, but they got a little bit tired late in the game and this contributed towards their final try.
"Andy Bennett, Tommy Hodgkinson and Doc Murray deserve credit for outstanding performances."
Murray was named the Lynx man of the match.
