VOLUNTEERS are needed for a scheme aimed at providing befrienders for lonely, elderly people.
The Caring Neighbourhood Scheme has been set up in Ribble Valley by the pressure group Age Concern.
Support for elderly people who are socially isolated is provided by volunteer visitors and telephone callers.
The scheme also coordinates voluntary groups and community organisations looking to provide a similar service.
Further information is available from Age Concern worker Heather Johnson on 01200 425654.
