THE traditional Lancashire summer was set to make a comeback, bringing gales and a soaking. The prolonged dry spell was broken by up to an inch of rain and weatherman said there was much more to come, courtesy of a hurricane. Gusts of up to 40mph were expected from the tail end of Hurricane Dean which reached speeds of 120mph and caused millions of pounds worth of damage in Bermuda earlier in the week.
