BURY fans had smiles on their faces as Neil Warnocks' new-look side completely outplayed Notts County in an impressive display of attacking football.
They dominated proceedings from the start and the final scoreline flattered County to an embarrassing extent. The Shakers hit the woodwork three times and had an effort cleared off the line.
Quicksilver striker Ian Lawson thrived on the wingplay of Adrian Littlejohn and could have had a hat-trick inside the first 20 minutes.
The former Huddersfield man finally gave Bury the lead when he broke through the County defence to fire home a fine ball from skipper Nicky Daws. Lawson and Andy Preece are clearly suited to one another and if Littlejohn and Lutel James maintain their support from the wings, then Shakers fans could well see plenty of goals this season. Paul Reid has added some craft to midfield whilst the three man backline look more than capable of protecting young Pat Kenny in goal, with Sam Collins a mountain in the heart of the defence.
