MR K SOWERBUTTS (Letters, July 30) is fully entitled to express his opinion on the banning of foxhunting, but there are two sides to every quarrel and equally cogent arguments are made for retaining the status quo, which I will not tediously repeat here.
His use of the phrase 'right-minded people' worries me a bit, as he is saying that all who disagree with him must be wrong-headed. My own, more humble opinion is that 'most people' (say, 70 per cent) don't give a toss either way, that a hypothetical referendum on the subject would arouse as much apathy as the last European elections and that governments should have more important things to do with their time.
