FORMER Euro MP Michael Hindley has a new job - helping those who have problems with theirs!
He has set up an employment rights advice service to offer workers help on matters including the minimum wage, hours of work, redundancy, disrimination and holiday entitlement. Mr Hindley, who represented Lancashire South before deciding not to stand at this year's Euro elections, will also be representing workers at Employment Tribunals on a 'no win no fee' basis.
"From June 1 the Government has reduced the qualifying period for unfair dismissal from two years to one," said Mr Hindley, who is based in Accrington. "This means that local workers with one year of employment who are unfairly dismissed by their employer will be able to take their case to a tribunal."
Mr Hindley taught at Accrington College and at a university in East Germany before becoming a European MP.
