LISA Richardson from Blackburn was the winning under 16 girl at Sunday's English Championship fell race at Latrigg. It was Chorley AC's first victory of the season in the fifth race of the series.
Two East Lancashire athletes have been included in the Lancashire men's team for the Inter Counties 10K at Bradford on September 12. Andy Morgan-Lee lives in Burnley but runs for Southampton, and Andrew Brindle is a member of Chorley AC.
Emma Hornsby competed at her first meeting at the Arnold Seddon young athletes event at Wigan, and finished third in the under 10 long jump. Emma is a product of the Pacesetter Course run by Burnley AC at the Barden Athletics Track. Every Monday juniors from eight to 10 years of age are welcome to attend the training sessions from 6pm to 7pm. At Wigan, Simon Bissell of Burnley set a new under 15 track record for the discus of 39.60, and Hyndburn's Andy Charlesworth set a personal best in winning the under 13 javelin. He also won the 1500m and was second in the discus. Callum Fitzpatrick was second in the under 11 long jump, Scott Hudson was third in the under 15 long jump.
Under 13 Louise Dickinson won a sprint double last Wednesday when Park High School went to Bolton. Luke Turner et a PB in winning the under 11s 600m in 1:57.5, he finished second in the 80m. Anne Smith won the under 15s 800m and Charlotte Bickerstaffe took second in the under 13s race over the same distance.
