FOR the past four years, the Conservatives on Blackburn with Darwen housing committee have said the only way forward for council tenants is transferring their homes to a local housing company, as, due to its mismanagement and following political dogma, all this Labour Council has done is put the residents of the borough in debt.
There are no repairs or planned maintenance for council housing due to lack of funds and ever year it's getting worse.
For four years we were told a local housing company was not in our best interests by the dinosaurs on the Labour-controlled housing committee and, after last year's half-hearted application to get on the list for an LHC, we were told the council's retention of its housing stock was right for us.
But, behold, after the May municipal elections, they came to the conclusion the Conservatives had been right for the past four years and that an LHC was our best way forward.
Why after the elections, not before, was this announced?
Was it because the then chairman and vice-chairman of housing, Councillor Mohammed Khan and Coun Dave Hollings, were both up for election last May?
