WITH just a few weeks left of the Cricket season, we are offering readers the chance to relive some special moments in history by winning a copy of Lord's: The Home of Cricket, written and illustrated by Niall Edworthy.
The Citizen has teamed up with Virgin to give away four copies of the book - a chronological celebration of Lord's from the very first game on May 31, 1787, to the present day.
It catalogues the extraordinary matches, heroic innings and great bowling performances as well as behind the scenes politics at the World's most famous cricket ground.
The illustrated book, which can be bought for £25 from most good bookshops, is a fascinating record of the events and incidents that have shaped the history of the MCC, the England cricket team and cricket itself. Reproductions of paintings, illustrations and memorabilia from the archives of the MCC accompany images ranging from ranging from ancient portraits to some of the best modern-day action photography.
Biographies of famous players from history, including W G Grace, Bill Alley and Denis Compton, grace the pages.
To win this excellent book, simply answer the following question and send your answer, together with your name, address and telephone number, on the back of a postcard/sealed envelope to: Lord's Competition, Citizen Newspapers, 3 Winckley Court, Winckley Square, Preston PR1 3JJ.
Which city is Lord's situated in?
The first entries drawn on Friday, August 20, will win a copy of the book.
Converted for the new archive on 14 July 2000. Some images and formatting may have been lost in the conversion.
