IN response to the 'Chinese torture' method of the release of information regarding the demolition of Blackburn railway station, the latest item of which was your report (LET, July 28), have trains to Clitheroe, Colne and Yorkshire been cancelled as no platform information was included in the report?
This is despite the fact that these trains arrive at and depart from platform one or two, which are now to be primarily concerned with the demolition and construction work for the new station.
A further thought has occurred to me about the siting of the booking office, should the final decision be to locate it within the glass dome. Who will be responsible for the security of the vacated booking hall which at present enjoys some protection by the presence of the booking and inquiry activities?
One can reasily visualise the notoriety of activity on the Boulevard spreading into a covered area of the station.
Another thought, what business organisation arranges for the first contact with its clients to be at the furthest point from the entrance to its premises?
Perhaps it is time for Railtrack, etc, to provide some artists impressions of the features as seen from the platform level from the Cathedral grounds and across the station frontage from the Star and Garter Hotel.
