ALTHOUGH Windle and Pilkington Spartans have theSt Helens Rounders League First and Second Division titles in the bag, the heat is still on for the two runners-up spots. TNT and Burtonwood are battling it out for the first and Bobbies Lane, Rainhill and Haydock for the second.
With TNT defeating Burtonwood in a thrilling game and Burtonwood also losing to Sutton, the race is going down to the wire.
In Division Two, Haydock, with a two-game advantage over Rainhill, made hard work of beating Grasshoppers but lost to the in-form girls from Haresfinch.
The Finch, having tasted success already this season, were keen to consolidate and went on to beat Grasshoppers. The accurate bowling of Yvonne Tinsley and deep fielding by Pattie Howell proved integral parts of what were two outstanding all-round team performances.
Results: TNT 6 Burtonwood 3, Vikings 4 Windle 6, Haresfinch 14 Haydock 8, Haydock 16 Grasshoppers 15, Haresfinch 23 Grasshoppers 17.
