COLLEGE classes are starting to help workers hit by ill health.
Wigan and Leigh College has been awarded funding for an innovative programme designed for those unable to do the job they were trained for, or who have to quit through ill health.
Candidates for courses will be referred to the college by their doctor, their employer - or they can volunteer themselves.
Following a fitness test, experts will work out a therapeutic exercise programme and the flexible scheme will include stress management, aromatherapy, reflexology, massage and the use of the Image Centre steam and sauna rooms and spa pool.
Other training opportunities and work placements could follow.
A spokesman said: "It should prove a lifeline for individuals and a tool for doctors and occupational therapists to help their clients.
"Employers should see it as an opportunity to offer early retirers an enhanced outlook."
