Christmas could be an unsexy time in Bury if the town's moral guardians have their way.
They are not keen on allowing the Private Shop on Rochdale Road, Bury to open late on several days before and after Christmas, and on several days which are Bank Holidays transferred from the weekend.
The shop says that customers, particularly those who work during the day, find late night and Sunday opening convenient during the festive period.
But councillors on the licensing panel have said they are "minded to refuse" the application, unless they can be persuaded otherwise at their next meeting.
